Here in the southern hemisphere we are entering the darkest time of the year as the days shorten.
We have been enjoying some wonderful weather that has us confused. It is warm and calm but the sun is a mellower, soft light and it is in the sky for shorter and shorter hours each day.
As the afternoon draws on the sunlight is slanting across the walls and floors at quite different angles. Sunset behind a nearby hill happens quite dramatically.
On Friday I managed to capture the last, reflected, milky sunlight near the phone and computer.
Then the last of the rays falling on a bedroom wall and within seconds it is all gone from the house and the dark begins to creep in.

I always love when the sun falls onto my walls. I get pretty patterns on my living room walls thanks to the tree outside, and rainbows in my bedroom thanks to the prism hanging from one of the windows there. Makes me stop and just enjoy it.
Noticing the light is soooo good for us. Rainbows from prisms are special:-)
Agreed. I live in an area where we are just finally starting to get some sun after a long winter and I’m lapping up every last ray. (And I’m not a sun-lover in general.) Prisms make it all the more special.
Sending you more light as we draw into the darker times:-) It is unusually warm here at the moment so nothing seems so bad right now. A change to much colder temperatures may change how we feel!
Milky light is a perfect description Lynley. It’s sad to see it go after these sunny days, and to feel the cool creeping in.
You are correct Juliet. The milky light went even earlier tonight and the heater needed to go on promptly.
I love your descriptions – sounds like you’re having a beautiful autumn.
Thanks Jo. We have had some “almost summery” weather since Easter. The only other part of summer that happened here was at Xmas time. The forecast is predicting rain and cold from tonight so reality might be about to descend upon us.
I like the way the light comes into the house.
The sun is finding all manner of different places to light up in the house at the moment Judy. I think I am bringing my attention to it more this year.
