The suburb in which I live is located close to the Pauatahanui Inlet. The last weekend of July was warm, sunny and calm and we headed around to the other side of the Inlet to explore a new section of a walkway, Te Ara Piko ( The meandering path). This path allows walkers to view the Inlet in all its moods and some of its wildlife without disturbing the latter.
Here are a couple of photos that I took while out and about on the “other side.”

Is it normally windy in this area?
Hi Marianne. The area I live in is well known for its wind. We can get very severe gales at times but also strong, persistent winds that can last for weeks. The Inlet can look beautiful on stormy days too:-)
I recall when I last visited Wellington about 18 months ago, I could hardly stand up crossing the street. The wind was so strong! LOL
Yes Marianne that does happen at times every year. The Pauatahanui Inlet is 30kms north west of Wellington city and we do sometimes miss the worst of the gales and winds but not that often.
A calm and beautiful place.
It was lovely down there over the weekend. I am very fortunate to live near such a diverse and special area.
What a beautiful inlet. You certainly capture the atmosphere with these photos.
Thank you Juliet. It is a beautiful and very special Inlet.
