Sunday Quote: Alligators and objectives

Here is an old saying that seems to have relevance to many aspects of our lives and our roles in life:

” When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is difficult to remember that the initial objective was to drain the swamp.”

It is such a useful saying Trece but I’d not heard it before coming across it in a book I was reading over the weekend. While I lol’d initially I realised it has deeper levels of meaning. A search on its origin came up with the following: “The objective of all dedicated employees is to thoroughly analyze all situations, anticipate all problems prior to their occurrence, have answers for these problems, and move swiftly to solve these problems when called upon. However, when you are up to your ass in alligators, it is difficult to remember that your initial objective was to drain the swamp.”
