The ash and smoke from the devastating Australian bushfires drifts to New Zealand’s atmosphere on the prevailing north westerly winds. We have had plenty of those this summer.
Any sunshine this morning, long after dawn, is a strange orangey red. The day is very cloudy and cool but the sky looks like this when the sun can shine through.
That’s a strange looking sky. I hope the atmosphere settles back to normal very soon.
You are right Jo. The sky was entirely weird when I took those photos. The day went to heavy cloud and gales…..what is new? Two earthquakes yesterday as well so Mother Nature was busy. Today is feeling hot (heat from Australia but not in the mid 40’s thank goodness) the sun looks normal and the wind has dropped…..a wee bit of summer!
Noticeable here as well
I keep missing the sunsets – I need to get to a higher vantage point to get a good angle on them. The sun seems back to normal here today.
