Earlier in the week I sat in an empty house waiting for a tradesman to come and repair an appliance. The householders had to be at work and this repair was essential The arrival time of the repairer spanned about an hour.
While I waited I took some photos in the garden and watched the light change in a house built with walls made of wood. They are called “Lockwood” homes here and the light certainly plays on and off the walls in a very different manner to the walls here at home.
As I drank my cup of tea I looked more closely at the walls and noticed all these “eyes” watching me….
That’s a little spooky ,or it could be friendly. Lockwood homes are fascinating.
Definitely friendly although a couple of photos have an “alien” perception about them. The house talked to me as well. In the way Lockwood homes do!
Just wait outside…
I wasn’t spooked at all just interested in trying to take some photos of the knot holes….the amount of light that bounced off the wall boards was incredible.
How beautiful… they are like house angels
I love your idea Valerie…..you would feel well cared for under so many watching eyes….for there were many.
I like these eyes. Thanks for your comment on my Annie blog. I decided to change my blog name and I hope you will follow me here http://forestsogreen.wordpress.com
Annie 🙂
The eyes were interesting and trickier to photograph than I expected…but I am an amateur. The internal timber is quite shiny so the light bounced off that I guess.
I will certainly follow your renamed blog.
I remember a friend in Auckland had a Lockwood home that made so much noise she didn’t like being alone there at night.
The house certainly “spoke” to me quite a lot too!
There’s a definite soulful look to those ‘eyes’ in the second photo! Enjoyed this – good work on seeing these in a different way!
Those knot holes took on quite different looks up close….it was fun. I thought the second photo looked like the eyes of a loving labrador.
