More earthquakes

Just a quick post to let readers know that my family and I are safe after today’s big earthquake around 2.31pm and subsequent myriad aftershocks. We are naturally on edge but we are physically unharmed and the house here seems to be built of stern stuff.

The biggest shake today seems to have been felt all over New Zealand. The aftershocks roll on which you will be familiar with. All our family is home, safe and sound in their respective homes now so that feels safer. We had thought that things were settling down but not so sadly. I feel for the folk in Seddon and surrounding areas.

Good to hear. It must have been scary being in high rise buildings today and very tiring trying to leave the city. I heard on the radio that a school in Mt Victoria happened to be doing an earthquake drill at the time. The little ones were amazed that the teachers had put on real earthquake effects 🙂

I like your story of the earthquake drill:-) The city did look hard work this afternoon. People did band together to help where they could…..just as they did in ChCh.

As far as I could tell we did not feel any quakes all night. Remarkably I slept well until Jazz woke and howled at 6am. He seemed very agitated. I think there is a possum visiting our garden to steal the apples I hang for the birds. Jazz was intent upon sniffing around those areas.

I am sure it is! I like rescue remedy myself!

You may already know of this website, but if not you might find it of interest. It is a long-range weather prediction site, but they also discuss the gravitational pull of the planets and their impact on seismic activity:

There is an interesting article about the Cook Strait earthquakes under ‘Articles’.

I know that many scientists dismiss the idea of the planets having any effect at all, but I am not so sure.

Anyway I really hope and wish that you all stay safe and have a peaceful night!

Thanks for the link Jo. The earth is certainly unsettled. We are all feeling very tired but wonder about the night ahead. Thank you for your warm wishes.
