I spotted this stunning photo of a Tui on my Facebook news feed today. It is not my photo.
The link for it is here.
Top or tail they are very beautiful birds.

Gorgeous. I was watching a rerun of Birdland the other night and heard how clever the Tui is at imitating the human voice. I wondered if you might be encouraging your Tui to talk 🙂
What an amazing beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing it with us.
that’s beautiful
Wow!!
It could have been a risky angle for the photographer!
🙂
They are beautiful! Our crows and ravens are pretty much black, but sometimes you can see green in their feathers. Nothing like this!

I love Tuis but you can tell that from all my blogging about them:-) I don’t see many crows or ravens here but we do have some birds of that type in New Zealand.
We do see Magpies which are black and white and a larger bird than a Tui.
We have magpies here also. But for some reason they have left our area and moved south more. I think the crows and ravens pushed them out.
We see fewer magpies here now too. I think there was a suspicion that the Tui had driven them away but it may be that many of the trees they liked to nest in have been cut down or have been felled by the storms of the past wee while.
A striking photo indeed Lynley.
It is a very special photo Juliet. Someone did well with their camera.
