Yes a very different angle. The Tui were determined to work deeply in the bush yesterday and go to spots that were well hidden – perhaps where the best nectar was.
I love the iridescent glint in the sun and the lovely shawl feathers….I see these delicate feathers when they shed them in the dregs of the sugar water as I do a refill. They can be like filigree at times.
Shawl, wattles, iridescence and feathers that can make a whirring sound as they fly – they are masterpieces of wonder. They are also very aggressive at times. I’ve seen sparrows being bullied today by Tui:-((
A different angle on the Tui!

I was trying to find a way to describe those feathers; shawl is exactly right!

😦 😦
I wonder if there are fledglings around hence the aggression. That is my most forgiving thought.
Could well be. The paradise duck ( male) I saw the other day was very aggressive because of the little ones in his care.
I witnessed one of the Coot parents giving vigorous chase to keep other water fowl away from the chicks. Life is in full swing out there!
