Jump!

The Tom Thumb Bottle Brush bush is putting out new brushes at the moment and the Tuis love the nectar from these colourful, sweet flowers.

Above the bush is the Melia tree and the Tui often use the lower branches as a launch pad to drop into the bush.
Here is a Tui considering a leap into the bush.

Did he leap? Yes he did only to disturb another Tui deeper in the bush.

Thank you. I’d been out with the camera and not feeling very satisfied with my results but this photo was well worth the effort. It is not often Tui come into the clear in a tree. He/she was so quizzical….
The MoTH is perplexed about how and when he can trim this bush as it has been putting out new brushes for a good few months now. Not yet I keep pleading.

I was about to pull out some bedraggled borage plants outside my bedroom window but, then, this morning it was full of small birds enjoying the borage seeds. So I just couldn’t take out the plants, could I ?!

I understand :-)) As a compromise could you shake the seeds off the plants so the birds can enjoy those and you get a tidier view. Doubtless you will get a lot more borage thanks to our wee friends!
