On a fresh water pond in Pauatahanui Forest and Bird Reserve I found these ducks.
Perhaps Huey, Dewey and Louie?
More likely to be some of this season’s ducklings which have survived, just enjoying the pond.
Disappearing into the reeds.
Heading towards the shore through the pink and green weed that is covering the surface in summer time.
It must be nice and cool in the pond on a hot day.
I think that pond would offer respite on a hot day. We have had a scorcher here and we are certainly enjoying a stretch of hot, dry days.
Very sweet. The other day we saw a family of paradise ducks. The parents had done a remarkable job. They were still looking after 9 children, all almost as big as themselves.
9 Children reared to almost maturity is very, very impressive. I really like Paradise Ducks.
I really like them, too.
