There were many of these trees in the park we visited today and all were groaning with these berries.
More evidence of a masting season I suspect. We saw several more Keruru but this one was so well placed for the sun. Magnificent.
The light was just splendid Jo. Keruru have red coloured eyes but this bird could not have been in a better place – for me and for a very full tummy! There were some other even bigger birds in the park but they were in shaded, denser trees. It was a real treat today.
Arent’t they beautiful birds and we welcome them to our garden.
I would love Keruru in my garden Judith. This one was in a park in Tawa this afternoon. They are very special birds.
What a feast.

Such beauty and colour – loveliness as you say!
What a feast! Lucky kereru, and well photographed Lynley.
Thanks Juliet. The trees glowed red as we approached. The Keruru were very happy. This one was in wonderful light.
Lovely! His eye looks just like a berry. He is going to be quite fat after eating all those! 🙂
