The sunlight is low and activity levels in the garden are generally low too, given it is winter. But there are signs here and there of plant life that provides for interest in this season of quiet.
The Hyacinth is showing a flower head or two and Mum’s Zygocacti always flower in winter so there are some splashes of colour. Spring bulbs are putting up their leaves but recent freezing weather have reduced that activity.
Winter has truly bitten here. Mercifully we have missed the ghastly flooding just further north of us and we did not get any snow early last week but it has really become very cold. I’ve just read Valerie’s post (I always enjoy her writing very much) and see that you are under the weather. I hope you feel better very soon.
Thanks OG. It is a long time since we have had night after night of frost. I am keeping warm but definitely under the weather. Yes, Valerie’s post is lovely……a celebration of tears!
There are subtle changes happening, aren’t there? Gearing up for the mad rush of spring. 🙂

Yes, with our current temps they are wise to bide their time.

It sounds bitter down in the South Island. I am glad you are keeping warm. Rest up and restore:-))
