This small purple plant appears in the grass and I suspect also in the garden where it grows taller and spreads out. Any suggestions as to its name please?

I’m not certain, but I think it’s chamomile.
Thanks. I’ll do some more searching on that option.
not chamomile – thought it might be Pennyroyal but probably not. What kind of smell do the leaves have? Have noticed this around myself but not bothered to find out its name…
The lawns were mowed yesterday so my flower has gone for now. I will go and have another look around the garden and check out the leaves. I wonder if it browns off once mature and then seeds as there are similar looking flower heads about.
I’ll be interested in the results
It is called Self Heal, Prunella vulgaris-http://www.lawnweeds.co.uk/selfheal.html
Yes, self-heal is right. I was shown this some years ago on a plant walk. I always enjoy this little purple flower. You can rub it on cuts to help them heal.
Thanks Juliet. I am learning a lot about the small and often overlooked plants and flowers that live in the garden here.
