At the Pauatahanui burial ground last Friday I spotted these colourful berries popping out of their papery pods.
The plants seemed to be bulbs of some sort but I cannot be sure about that.

Very beautiful.
Thank you. I don’t know what plant they come from but they are bright and the papery pod feels very downy on the inside.
What a beautiful colour they are! I don’t recall having seen anything like this before – I wonder what they are …
The colour caught my eye. I have no idea what plant they are. I will have to look more closely over the next year and maybe I will be able to name them.
Nice! Perfect colorful berries.
Thanks!
If the birds don’t eat them then they are poisonous… But they are beautiful
I was not tempted to try the berries but they were vibrant in their beauty.
Looks like http://www.weedbusters.org.nz/weed-information/iris-foetidissima/59/ if you haven’t identified it yet. I’m about to rip a bunch out of my garden that the previous owner planted because small kids and poisonous berries don’t mix.
Thanks for this. Certainly one to get rid of from the garden.
